Global Fund for Women
Подробнее
This story began with a simple yet powerful idea — to protect women and girls and to strengthen families often shaped by pressure from traditions, misinterpretations of religion, and fundamentalism.
With the support of the Global Fund for Women, projects gradually took shape, focusing on rethinking the role of the family and creating safe, respectful environments for all its members. The work unfolded in communities where such challenges are often hidden — where early and unregistered marriages are still seen as normal.
One of the most visible steps was the national awareness campaign “Uyat” — “Shame.” It aimed to open a conversation with society about difficult issues: early marriage, the status of women, and the silence that often conceals violence. Through conferences, community meetings, seminars, and trainings, this dialogue continued to grow and reach wider audiences.
The story also extended into the digital space — through social media, publications, and online platforms where informational materials were widely shared. At the same time, direct support was provided to those most in need — including legal and psychological assistance for survivors of domestic violence and religious extremism.
Over time, changes became visible. Communities began to speak differently about violence and fundamentalism, showing greater awareness and sensitivity. Partnerships with government institutions strengthened — including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, local self-government bodies, state authorities on religious affairs, as well as education and healthcare sectors.
This story is not over yet. But it is already shaping change — strengthening the institution of the family and expanding opportunities for women and girls.
